Larsson builds the surface through thick, layered brushwork, creating a richly tactile composition where the forms emerge from a patchwork of ochres, creams, browns and muted blues. The subject is treated with a loose, abstracted eye — the spiked heads of the thistles radiate outward, giving rhythm and structure against a more fragmented, atmospheric ground. The palette is warm and earthy, with flashes of yellow and white catching the light and lifting the composition.
