The edition In der Schwebe (Hovering Moment) is a kind of aesthetic harbinger of a large-scale performance that is to take place in Vienna in July 2022. Hundreds of homemade parachutes, to which acorns and seeds are attached, are dropped from a radio tower. They sail from the sky and land on open spaces in urban areas, where they are to lead to the mass planting of trees and woody plants. With the performance, Kleiner addresses the possibility of mobilizing plants as a response to human mobility, which is a major cause of climate change and the destruction of nature. In der künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung von Tomas Kleiner steht der performative Akt im Vordergrund. Seine vielfältigen Eingriffe in reales Geschehen hält er in Videos, Fotos, Collagen, Zeichnungen, Audiofiles oder Notizbüchern fest. Die Edition „In der Schwebe (Hovering Moment)“ ist eine Art ästhetischer Vorbote zu einer großangelegten Performance, die im Juli 2022 in Wien stattfinden soll. Von einem Funkturm werden hunderte selbstgefertigte Fallschirme abgeworfen, an denen kleine Kartoffeln angebracht sind. Sie segeln ziellos umher und landen auf Freiflächen im städtischen Raum, wo sie sich einen Ort zum Fortpflanzen suchen können. Mit der Performance thematisiert Kleiner die Möglichkeit einer Mobilisierung von Pflanzen als Antwort auf die Mobilität des Menschen, die eine wesentliche Ursache für den Klimawandel und die Zerstörung der Natur darstellt.
