Original vintage Soviet film poster for a family adventure movie Three Fat Men / Три толстяка directed by Aleksey Batalov and Iosif Shapiro based on a novel by Yury Olesha (1899-1960) written in 1924, the first revolutionary fairy tale in Soviet literature. Fantastic illustration featuring a young girl holding a torch lamp and leading a prisoner in chains through the dark night with three giant shadows of men wearing hats looming in the background, the title on the side. Olesha's book received mixed reviews when it was first published in 1927 with V. Boichevsky describing it as a sugar coated representation of revolution and A. Lunacharsky describing it as heartfelt apologetics by the artistic intelligentsia accepting the revolution; a dramatic version premiered in 1930 by Stanislavky and the Moscow Art Theater and a ballet version with music by V. Oransky was performed in 1935. Fair condition, folds, faint marks, small tears, pinholes and creases on margins.
