Three Saints Pinot Noir is a 100% Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County, California, bottled at 13.5% ABV in a standard 750ml format. What distinguishes this wine is its multi-appellation blending approach — drawing fruit from three of Santa Barbara County's premier AVAs — making it one of the Central Coast's most compelling value-driven Pinot Noirs.Quick Facts: ABV: 13.5% | Origin: Santa Barbara County, California | Style: Multi-AVA Blend | Producer: Dierberg WineryProduction & HeritageThree Saints is produced by Dierberg Winery, drawing its name from the patron saints behind Santa Barbara County's three major wine-growing valleys: Santa Maria, Santa Rita, and Santa Ynez. Rather than sourcing from a single vineyard or AVA, the wine blends Pinot Noir from the Santa Maria Valley, Santa Rita Hills, and Santa Ynez Valley appellations — each contributing distinct character shaped by varying proximities to the Pacific Ocean and unique soil compositions. This tri-AVA approach gives winemakers a broader palette to achieve balance and complexity, resulting in a wine that captures the breadth of Santa Barbara County terroir in a single bottle.Tasting NotesAroma: The nose opens with bright red cherry and ripe raspberry before revealing layers of dried herbs — marjoram, thyme, and bay leaf have appeared in various vintages. Deeper notes of cola, leather, and earthy mushroom add intrigue beneath the fruit.Taste: The entry is fruit-forward with vivid red cherry and pomegranate, building toward a mid-palate of baking spice, peppercorn, and subtle licorice. A thread of bright acidity runs through the wine, keeping it lively and structured without sacrificing the soft, silky texture that defines quality Central Coast Pinot Noir.Finish: The finish is medium in length with lingering notes of cherry pie, eucalyptus, and a gentle spice warmth. A clean, balanced exit that invites another sip without fatigue. How to Drink Three SaintsServe slightly below room temperature — around 55–60°F — to let the aromatics fully express without muting the acidity. This Pinot drinks beautifully on its own but has the structure and fruit intensity to anchor several classic wine-friendly cocktails and preparations. A Pinot Noir Sangria benefits from its bright cherry and spice notes, which hold up against citrus and seasonal fruit. A simple Kir variation (substituting Pinot Noir for the traditional white wine with a touch of cassis liqueur) plays well off the wine's red-fruit core. For a warming option, a Mulled Wine built on Three Saints takes advantage of its inherent baking spice and herbal complexity.Best For Weeknight dinners where you want genuine complexity without opening a bottle you've been saving Introducing someone to serious Central Coast Pinot Noir without a premium price tag Hosting a blind tasting of Santa Barbara County wines to explore multi-AVA blending Pairing with a holiday roast or Thanksgiving spread where versatility matters Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does Three Saints taste like? Three Saints Pinot Noir delivers bright red cherry and raspberry with supporting layers of baking spice, dried herbs, and peppercorn. Depending on the vintage, you may find earthy undertones of leather and mushroom alongside a silky, medium-bodied texture. How does Three Saints compare to single-AVA Santa Barbara Pinot Noirs? While single-AVA bottlings from Santa Rita Hills or Santa Maria Valley tend to emphasize the specific character of one site — such as the cool-climate intensity of Santa Rita Hills — Three Saints blends fruit from all three major Santa Barbara AVAs, resulting in a rounder, more broadly expressive wine that trades vineyard specificity for layered complexity at a lower price point. Is Three Saints good for everyday drinking? Absolutely — it sits in the value tier of Central Coast Pinot Noir and has been recognized as one of the few under-$25 Central Coast Pinot Noirs that delivers authentic varietal character and regional identity without cutting corners.Where is Three Saints made? Three Saints is produced by Dierberg Winery in Santa Barbara County, California. The fruit is sourced from vineyards across the Santa Maria Valley, Santa Rita Hills, and Santa Ynez Valley AVAs, all located within the county's coastal and inland wine-growing corridors. What foods pair well with Three Saints? Roast duck or duck confit highlights the wine's cherry fruit and herbal complexity. Grilled salmon with a berry reduction mirrors its red-fruit aromatics. Wild mushroom risotto connects with the earthy undertones found in many vintages. Herb-crusted pork tenderloin complements the thyme and bay leaf notes. Aged Gruyère or Comté cheese echoes its subtle spice and silky texture. What sizes does Three Saints come in? Three Saints Pinot Noir is available in the standard 750ml bottle format. Is Three Saints worth the price? Three Saints positions as a value-tier Pinot Noir that consistently punches above its weight class. For drinkers seeking authentic Santa Barbara County character without moving into the $30-plus range of single-vineyard bottlings, it represents strong quality-to-price ratio backed by Dierberg Winery's vineyard access and winemaking pedigree. Why Three Saints? The multi-AVA blending strategy is the defining feature here — most producers at this price point source from broader, less distinguished appellations, while Three Saints pulls from three of California's most respected Pinot Noir growing regions under a single label. Dierberg Winery's direct ownership of vineyard land in Santa Maria Valley gives the production team hands-on control over fruit quality that many value-tier wines simply cannot match. The result is a Pinot Noir that reads as genuine Central Coast wine rather than a generic California red, delivering herbal complexity, bright acidity, and layered red fruit that reflect the coastal influence and diverse terroir of Santa Barbara County.
