Threshold is the third and final image in my Boundaries series, and here I have pulled back again. The small incomplete square is still there, but now it sits within a much larger structure. The wider view reveals the edges, divisions and geometry of the salt evaporation pond, and suddenly that little shape that seemed so important in Open Circuit becomes just one small part of the landscape. I really like that change in perspective. In Open Circuit, I moved in close and the square became almost completely abstract. Enclosure pulled back and started to give it some context. With Threshold, the landscape finally opens up and we begin to understand where that small shape actually sits. The extraordinary orange still dominates, but now there is much more going on—strong lines, corners, different textures and the contrasting edges of the pond. Threshold completes my Boundaries series, exploring how dramatically our understanding of a landscape can change simply by changing perspective. Interior Design Suggestions Threshold is the most expansive of the three Boundaries works. The intense orange gives it immediate impact, while the dark lines and geometric structure make it feel very contemporary. It would work particularly well with charcoal, black, warm white, concrete, stone and natural timber. I think this image needs to be printed at a generous size. The small square is deliberately only one part of the composition, so scale will allow the viewer to appreciate both the broader geometry and the finer details within the landscape. On its own, Threshold would make a strong statement piece for a contemporary living space, entrance, office, boardroom or commercial interior.
