The stock throttle wheel on a Miata gives a 1:1 relationship between pedal position and butterfly position. But what you really want is a 1:1 relationship between pedal position an d airflow, and thus torque output. Since the butterfly is a flat plate in a cylinder, the initial opening provides a disproportionate amount of airflow. At the top end, you see a similar non-linearity. This new throttle wheel remaps the pedal to butterfly relationship so that the airflow entering the engine is more accurately mapped to your throttle pedal and thus torque production. This means more precision at both the low and high end of the range. This is especially useful for high power cars or cars with tricky clutches. You see the same sort of mapping in cars with drive-by-wire throttles, but this is done mechanically. Due to the fact that this modifies the rate at which the throttle plate opens, it is technically not legal in California and we cannot ship there. Fits all 1995-97 throttle bodies.
