Through Gold is all about that beautiful blue cutting its way through the gold. The contrast was what grabbed me immediately. There are these wonderful areas of warm ochre and gold, then suddenly this cool blue moves through them, with smaller touches of lavender scattered across the surface. I love the detail in this one too. The gold isn't one flat area of colour. It's full of tiny patterns, marks and changes in tone that make the landscape feel almost textured enough to touch. From above, there is very little to tell you what you're actually looking at. The landscape becomes an abstract composition, and colour takes over completely. Through Gold is part of my Mineral Bloom series, exploring landscapes where extraordinary natural colour seems to spread and bloom across the earth. Interior Design Suggestions Through Gold has a stronger contrast than some of the softer works in Mineral Bloom, which gives it real presence on a wall. The combination of warm gold and ochre with cooler blue and lavender means it can work with both warm and cool interiors. It would look particularly good against warm white, soft grey or neutral walls, with timber, stone, linen and other natural materials around it. The gold could also be picked up beautifully through brass or warm metallic details, while the blue gives you another colour to carry through cushions, fabrics or furnishings. I think this one could handle being printed quite large. The blue gives the composition structure from across the room, while all those intricate textures in the gold reward you when you move closer.
