A deliberate counterweight to the chaos of everyday life, her art is an invitation to explore the hidden layers of reality and make space for inner stillness, sanity and hope. Tash’s photographs have been recognized by the International Photography Awards (IPA), Critical Mass Top 200, Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, Tokyo International Foto Awards. She has exhibited in Canada, the US and internationally. Her photo book about the courageous journeys of breast cancer survivors "Beautiful Body, Unbreakable Spirit" won 2nd Place at IPA 2021. Artist Statement This image was captured at a time that felt like the weight of life had lifted for the artist. During this reprieve, Tash Damjanovic had a peculiar feeling that she had been floating through life, unmoored, and was reminded that the world could feel light and colourful again. She notes, “I had previously associated night with darkness, quiet, and fear. In this work, the night reveals the city in splendor. These images do not deny the chaos and exhaustion of urban life; instead, they uncover a softer, more luminous layer within it. Allowing viewers a pause, a breath, and an experience of the city not as a place of constant demand, but as a site of unexpected wonder.” Learn more: tashd.art
