These figs will have a thick skin with red and brown blushing on a green and yellow background. Tia Penya produces 2 crops annually, with the first brebas ripening in early August. The main harvest will produce medium-sized figs between 30-40 grams each. The main crop Tia Penya figs will be ready to sample from mid-October to November, making this a late-ripening variety. Tia Penya is a fig that came from the collection of Montserrat Pons. It originated on Spain’s Balearic Islands, where its mother tree was discovered growing in Can Barraquer in the term of Sinéu. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
