Tick Tock is a fourth generation family business with roots going back to 1903, when the family first perfected the craft of curing rooibos using traditional tea making techniques. Green Rooibos is a different product from the standard red rooibos - where red rooibos is fermented and oxidised to develop its rich, warm character, green rooibos is dried immediately after harvesting to stop the oxidisation process entirely. The result is a lighter, fresher cup that retains the natural green colour of the plant and a character closer to a delicate green tea than the familiar red rooibos. Light, refreshing, and gently sweet with no bitterness whatsoever - rooibos from a different plant to black tea means it never goes bitter regardless of how long you steep it. Naturally caffeine free. Best drunk without milk to appreciate the delicate, fresh character - the only Tick Tock rooibos that is specifically recommended without. How to brew the perfect cup Use freshly boiled water - unlike traditional green tea, green rooibos won't burn or go bitter. Steep for 4 to 5 minutes. Drink it without milk - the delicate green character comes through best without it. Good hot or iced with a slice of lemon or a sprig of mint. How does it compare? Fuller and warmer: Tick Tock Rooibos Fuller and warmer: Bewley's Rooibos Similarly light and caffeine free: Heath and Heather Peppermint Tick Tock and Bewley's standard Rooibos are both fuller and warmer in character - the natural step up if Green Rooibos feels too light. Heath and Heather Peppermint is worth comparing if you enjoy light, naturally caffeine free cups with a similarly clean, refreshing finish.
