Tidal Aurora One-of-a-Kind Statement Necklace Tidal Aurora is a striking piece of handcrafted wearable art inspired by the ever-changing colours and patterns found in coastal rock pools at low tide. Created using the Mokume Gane technique, layers of coloured polymer clay are carefully built, manipulated and finely sliced to reveal the intricate pattern hidden within. The result is an entirely individual surface filled with sweeping organic forms in turquoise, ocean blue, black, violet and soft metallic tones. Mica powders and metallic acrylic detailing add depth and luminosity, allowing different elements of the design to emerge as the light moves across the highly polished surface. Look closely and the abstract pattern begins to suggest tiny pools, shells, sea life and mysterious forms beneath the water — although what you see is entirely your own. The reverse is finished in black and carries the Shorelight Studio maker’s mark, while a black stainless steel chain complements the darker detailing of the pendant. Each stage is completed by hand in Scotland, from the original Mokume Gane construction through to the final sanding, polishing and buffing. Because the pattern is created within the clay itself, Tidal Aurora can never be reproduced exactly, making it a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece.
