Some cats disappear into the furniture. Others become part of the architecture. In Sleepy Time Tom, Edie Harper reduces a resting cat to rhythm, repetition, and line. Vertical band s echo across the composition while the cat stretches quietly through the center, nearly dissolving into the pattern around it. The effect is playful, controlled, and unmistakably modernist. Like much of Edie Harper’s work, the piece balances clarity with warmth. The geometry holds the composition together, but the personality remains intact. Handcrafted in Ann Arbor, Michigan, using Motawi’s time-honored Cuenca technique.
