These stunning air plants are epiphytes that live not on the ground, but on branches and rocks. Ionantha is one of the most sought-after air plants as it has a rosette of silvery g reen leaves which turn bright red as the plant is about to flower. Purple tubular flowers appear from the centre of the crown and this plant is often considered the king of air plants! Prefers bright light, with some direct sunshine and humidity. Dunk the plant in water every week or two. Decrease watering to once every three weeks during winter. Shake the plant gently to remove excess water. Avoid direct sunlight while drying.
