Smart Logistics Support: Automated scanning makes data capture easy, but insurance claims still require a physical protocol. View our Universal Shipping Damage Protocol & Selection Guide. SpotSee® TiltWatch® RFID – Automated Tilt Monitoring Visual tilt detection meets automated UHF RFID data capture. The TiltWatch RFID is a professional-grade, single-use indicator designed for modern supply chains. It combines the reliability of the TiltWatch XTR with an integrated passive RFID tag for instantaneous digital logging. TiltWatch® RFID – Frequently Asked Questions What does TiltWatch RFID do? TiltWatch RFID combines a visual tilt indicator with a passive UHF RFID tag. When the device activates due to excessive tilt, the RFID memory updates, allowing automated systems to detect tilt events during scanning. How does the RFID function work? If the indicator is triggered, the RFID chip changes state. When the shipment passes through a fixed gate or handheld reader, the system automatically flags the unit as “Alarm” without requiring visual inspection. Does TiltWatch RFID still provide a visual indicator? Yes. It includes the same red/white activation window as the TiltWatch XTR. The RFID feature adds digital traceability on top of the physical indicator. Does TiltWatch RFID detect shock or vibration? No. TiltWatch RFID is designed exclusively for tilt and orientation monitoring. For impact detection, pair it with ShockWatch 2 RFID. Where should TiltWatch RFID be mounted? Mount the indicator on a rigid, vertical surface such as a crate corner or reinforced carton wall. Avoid flexible packaging surfaces, which can distort readings. How far away can TiltWatch RFID be scanned? Gate-read performance typically reaches up to 5 metres depending on reader power, antenna configuration, and pallet density. Line-of-sight is not required. Which systems can read TiltWatch RFID? Any EPC Class 1 Gen 2-compatible RFID infrastructure can read the tags, including most warehouse management systems, handheld scanners, and fixed gate readers. Is TiltWatch RFID single-use? Yes. Once activated, the indicator permanently changes colour and the RFID memory updates, providing a tamper-evident record of tilt events.
