This is the last time. One Grade 1 titanium cone filter with more than 10,000 laser-cut slots, one titanium arc stand with no moving parts, one borosilicate glass carafe. No paper to reorder, no plastic in the brew path, no part with a service life. It makes one deliberate cup in four quiet minutes, rinses in ten seconds, and it will make the same cup in twenty years. The Material Argument One Filter. No Paper, No Plastic, No Coating. Ever. Pour over is the purest way to brew: water passes through the grounds exactly once, so the filter decides the cup. This one is laser-cut from solid Grade 1 titanium, which is commercially pure and does not rust, pit or corrode. It holds back the grounds, lets the aromatic oils through, and delivers an identical flow rate brew after brew. There is nothing on it, nothing in it, and nothing coming off it. Titanium weight 137 g Filter and arc stand together. Put it on a scale. Laser-cut slots 10,000+ Micron precision in solid titanium. No mesh weave to clog, no paper to buy. Plastic and silicone 0 Only titanium and laboratory-grade borosilicate glass touch your coffee. Practical brew 600 ml About two large mugs. 800 ml to the carafe brim. Note: the 137 g is the titanium. The borosilicate carafe is laboratory glass, and it is still glass: it belongs on the counter, not in a pack. The part built for the trail is the filter. That is the design, not a compromise. The Inventory Nothing in This Set Is a Consumable. That Is the Entire Specification. Count the things in your kitchen that will still be there in thirty years. This is one of them. Three parts, none of them replaced, none of them upgraded, none of them asking for attention. 1 Cone filter Grade 1 titanium, 10,000+ laser-cut slots. It does the work paper used to do, and it does it the same way every morning. Rinse, reuse. No service life. 2 Arc stand One piece of titanium bent into a stand. No screws to loosen, no hinge to wobble, no weld to let go. There is nothing on it that can fail. 3 Carafe Borosilicate glass, 800 ml to the brim, etched marks, a spout that does not drip. It is glass, so it lives on the counter. That is where the coffee gets poured anyway. It sits on the counter and asks nothing. No filters to keep in stock, no parts to replace, no better version coming. Someone will inherit it. Miles In The Filter Goes Where You Go Leave the stand and carafe at home. The filter seats directly on a camp mug or pot, and the included travel funnel sits it on top of most cups. No paper means nothing to keep dry and nothing to pack out. Rinse it in the creek water you just boiled and it is done. It does not care about mud, frost, or being dropped on granite. Every Morning A Daily Ritual With Nothing Hidden in It Coffee is a daily hot-liquid contact event, brewed at the temperature where materials matter. Here the water path is Grade 1 titanium and borosilicate glass, full stop. No plastic cone, no bleached paper, no liner, no coating. Titanium forms a stable oxide film and does not rust, pit or corrode. One category you can permanently stop auditing. Coffee and Tea Everything the Roaster Intended, and Tea on Sundays Paper traps the aromatic oils that carry a coffee's body and sweetness. Titanium slots pass them, so your single-origin tastes the way it was roasted to taste: fuller, sweeter, complete. The same filter steeps loose leaf tea directly in a pot or a large mug. One tool, every hot drink in the house, nothing to throw away afterward. Carry Weight Lighter Than the Paper Filters It Replaces A season of paper filters weighs more than this does. Solid Grade 1 titanium at a weight you stop noticing, stiff enough to take a pack strap cinched over it, and finished with nothing that can flake, rust, or sour the cup. Buy it once, carry it for the rest of your trips. Failure Analysis Every Pour Over Rig Fails Somewhere. Find the Failure Mode. Every brewing setup has a weak point: the consumable, the coating, the weave, the hinge. This set was designed by removing them. Component What usually fails This set Paper filters Bought again every month, trap the oils, go to landfill 10,000+ slots in solid titanium, bought once Plastic cone dripper Holds water just off the boil against plastic, every morning Grade 1 titanium, stable oxide film, no coating Steel mesh basket Weave clogs with fines, lends a metallic edge to the cup Laser-cut slots, identical flow rate brew after brew, no taste added Ceramic dripper Chips in a pack, cracks on a cold morning Solid titanium filter shrugs off drops and frost Stand hardware Screws loosen, hinges wobble, welds let go One-piece titanium arc, no moving parts at all Specifications The Numbers Materials Grade 1 commercially pure titanium filter and stand; borosilicate glass carafe Filter 10,000+ precision laser-cut slots; no paper filters needed, ever Titanium weight 137 g for filter and stand Carafe capacity 800 ml (27 fl oz) to the brim; practical brew 600 ml (20 oz), about 2 large mugs Assembled height 9.4 in with filter; 7.6 in without Footprint 8.3 in deep, 3.5 in wide; carafe base 5 in diameter In the box Titanium cone filter, one-piece arc stand, borosilicate carafe with etched measurement marks and no-drip spout, travel funnel that seats the filter on most cups Also brews Tea: steep the filter directly in a pot or large mug Care Rinse and reuse; hand wash or dishwasher; no steel wool Download: Pour Over Set Brewing & Care Booklet (PDF) How It Works A Real Cup in 3 Steps 1 Bloom Grind medium-coarse, water just off the boil at about 200°F. Wet the grounds and wait 30 seconds while the CO2 escapes. 2 Pour A thin, steady spiral from the center outward. Three to four minutes, total. The slots set an identical pace every time. 3 Rinse Ten seconds under the tap while the filter is wet, and it is ready for tomorrow. That is the whole cleanup. Before you order: pour over is a four minute ritual, not a push-button machine. The titanium slots pass the aromatic oils paper traps, so expect a fuller cup with a trace of fine sediment at the bottom: that is the method working, not a flaw. The carafe is laboratory-grade borosilicate but it is still glass; it is built for the counter, and the filter and travel funnel are the pieces that go in a pack. A practical brew is 600 ml, about two large mugs. FAQ Questions, Answered Straight What will I need to replace? Nothing. There is no paper, no cartridge, no gasket, no coating, and no moving part in the set. The cone filter is rinsed and reused, the stand is a single piece of titanium, and the carafe is borosilicate glass. If the glass ever breaks, that is the one thing to buy again, and it is the one thing that cannot be made from titanium. What actually goes in the pack? The filter, and the travel funnel that seats it on top of most cups. Together they brew over any mug or pot with no stand and no carafe. The 137 g figure is the filter and stand combined, so the trail kit is lighter still. The glass carafe stays home. Is titanium actually inert, or is that marketing? Grade 1 is commercially pure titanium. It forms a stable oxide film and does not rust, pit or corrode. There is no coating, no liner, and no plastic anywhere in the water path. We will not claim more than that, because nothing more needs claiming. How does the cup compare to paper? Paper traps the oils that carry body and sweetness. The slots pass them, so the cup is fuller and rounder, with a trace of fine sediment at the bottom of the last sip. If you have only ever brewed through paper, expect more coffee in your coffee. Will it clog like steel mesh? Mesh clogs because fines wedge into a woven surface. These slots are laser-cut straight through solid metal, so a ten second rinse while the filter is wet clears them completely and the flow rate stays identical for life. Can it take real field abuse? The filter is one piece of solid titanium: drops on rock, frost, and a tight pack do not bother it, and it will never rust. It does not need to sit in flame to do its job, so keep it out of the fire and it will outlast the pack you carry it in. Does it brew tea? Yes. Steep loose leaf directly in the filter over a pot or large mug. Same rinse afterward. How do I clean it? Rinse while wet for ten seconds. Hand wash or dishwasher are both fine. Skip steel wool; the brushed finish does not need it. What is in the box? Four pieces: the Grade 1 titanium cone filter, the one-piece titanium arc stand, the borosilicate glass carafe with etched measurement marks and a no-drip spout, and the travel funnel for brewing on the go. Every titanium piece carries the Valtcan eagle. Show more
