Toshiaki's Daichi series. Daichi (大地) means earth or land in Japanese. In this simply-shaped vase of rustic design, Toshiaki has captured the essence of the traditional Japanese ae sthetic concept of wabi-sabi: finding beauty in imperfection, and embracing the simplicity and asymmetry of nature. Within the irregularities in color and texture can be found unexpected moments of regularity, such as the horizontal bronze-colored lines and the smooth gradation from black to ochre.
