Nature Morte, September is from a series of still life paintings by Sophie Glover, in which she returns once a month to the kitchen table, as the perfect subject for telling stories about a moment in time; like a substitute for a diary entry.She focuses on the ephemera on the table and how it can be used to describe the passage of time as you see flowers arrive and die, notes appear, rings, fruit and her past paintings hidden in the background. Her works use dark, muted, autumnal or milky palettes, shot through with visceral reds which are used as delicious accents to centre the viewer on little corporeal, energetic moments.
