Series : Banksia Bushland "Togetherness I and II were painted alongside one another - perhaps a sense of longing was with me, we had recently seen our last daughter leave home and I think for a while I felt like there was something missing in the house - she is full of such colour and joy and emotion it was so quiet without her. Maybe I was just trying to cheer myself up with these colours and the movement - it worked! Being apart is so good for appreciating the times of being together. The joy we all feel, they way that our different personalities all fit together in a family group. This image was inspired by a painted paper collage I created, 'Falling For You', based on the Red Flowering Gum, the odd shaped leaves and the variety of colours were copied over from the original design and scaled up".
