The Tom Raffield Drift Pendant Light brings the movement of the sea into the home through a series of sweeping timber curves. Six flowing sections form the shade, creating a sculptural silhouette that feels expressive without becoming overly decorative. It is part of the Comber Lighting Range, inspired by the changing movement of the Cornish coastline. Each section is handcrafted from sustainably sourced, steam bent oak or walnut and arranged around a seasoned plywood centre, with brass rivets holding the structure together. The curves create an open shade that lets light escape between the timber, producing soft patterns and shadows across the room. There is a real sense of movement to the design, even when the pendant is completely still. The suspended format gives the Drift more presence than its flush counterpart, making it well suited to dining areas, living spaces and other rooms where a pendant can become part of the wider interior. It is a distinctive piece of lighting, but the use of natural timber keeps it feeling warm and grounded rather than imposing. Your browser does not support the video tag.
