This was, by far, the most complicated photo I’ve ever taken. After more than a year of planning, I spent 10 days traveling across Spain in August 2026, scouting, calculating and chasing for a perfect “bird with solar eclipse” composition. On the 12th of August, the eclipse finally took place. There are no words to describe how spectacular a total solar eclipse is, and how special it is to see your plan come to fruition! This is of course a real single image- not AI or a composite. Careful planning, scouring and practice was critical to pull it off! This photo almost didn’t happen- the White Stork finally returned to its nest a mere 30 seconds before eclipse totality.
