When I was asked to talk to you on the subject of our environment, it seemed quite natural to discuss the air conditioning of our offices, hospitals, theaters and homes. But after some thought on the subject, it seemed more appropri­ate to look at a specific segment of our "Take It For Granted!" environment. The segment I am referring to is water and waste systems and how they re­late to the process of providing a better environment for us all. We all know that when we turn on a faucet, we get water, clear and potable; or flip a switch and instant light, adjust a thermostat and we satisfy our comfort needs. But how many of us realize what goes on behind that faucet handle, that light switch, or thermostat; to provide this 11Take It For Granted" environment? Show more
