This fresh ale could be paired with white meats, pasta and summer salads. We are often asked how a brewery based in the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland, came to call one of its best-selling beer “Trade Winds”. This beer was, in fact, one of a number of beers which were acquired when we purchased all the brands and assets of the Tomintoul Brewery in 2000. Originally an IPA, Trade Winds was brewed to celebrate the Tall Ships Race which came to Aberdeen in 1997. Sean Tomlinson, previously our Production Director, came up with a new recipe with the addition of elderflower, creating this most refreshing of beers. In addition to adding their unique aroma to the beer elderflower, being a natural fermenter, enhances the fermentation process. Trade Winds has subsequently won many national awards since 2004
