Low cost traction. A spool replaces the differential carrier, locking the axle shafts together. Locking the axles provides maximum traction for off road use. Not recommended for us e on the pavement. For use only in rear axle, use in the front will limit turning ability. Fits 1979-1995 Toyota 8" 3rd members. Toyota 8” centre’s are available in two types “4cyl” and “V6”. Bearing sizes and pinion depths vary. 4cyl spool suits carriers with 45mm ID bearings, V6 suits 50mm ID bearings. Both use the same OD of the bearing so are interchangeable! Always best to check what is in your third if you want to reuse bearings as the 4cyl/v6 split does not always align with Aus delivered motors-thirdmembers.
