alberto castro leñero (mexico city, 1951) studied graphic communication and visual arts at the national school of plastic arts at unam, followed by painting at the academy of fine arts in bologna, italy (1978–1979). he taught visual experimentation at unam from 1982 to 1987, and in 1996 participated in a residency exchange program in new york. a member of the national system of art creators, he has contributed to urban art projects including "elementos" for the mexico city metro. his work spans painting, sculpture, and printmaking, with exhibitions across mexico, france, the united states, england, germany, and italy. notable shows include "vuelta prohibida" at the museum of modern art and "corpus" at the palacio de bellas artes (1999). he has been an active educator at public and private institutions, a juror at various competitions, and a guest artist at the contemporary painting symposium in baie-saint-paul, québec, canada.
