The Fender Bassman Transformer PT-’59 is the power transformer used in the 1959 Fender Tweed Bassman amplifier. It typically operates on 120 V AC at 60 Hz and provides multiple sec ondary windings, including a 650 V center-tapped high-voltage output for the B+ supply, a 6.3 V heater winding rated around 4 A, a 5 V rectifier winding, and a separate bias supply. This transformer, based on the Triad 8087 design, is known for its robust voltage capacity and warm tonal response, contributing to the Bassman’s distinctive clean headroom and dynamic overdrive characteristics.
