Unlike other filters where water is forced through the element, water travels through Berkey filters along a tortuous path allowing water to stay in contact with elements for an extended period. This system is ideal for 1-3 people to use everyday. The long-lasting set of Black Berkey Elements can treat up to 6,000 gallons (or about 5 years of typical use) before needing replacement. If desired, Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements may be installed on each Black Berkey Element.
