Cornelian Cherry Tree Cornus mas Redstone Seeds per pack ~ 10 Botanical Sample (Packed for 2025) Cornelian cherry is a hardy shrub or small tree often used as an ornamental landsca ping plant. Native to Eurasia, and particularly popular in the Caucasus region, it produces beautiful, edible fruits that are high in vitamins and minerals. They are not generally eaten raw, but make excellent jams, jellies, sauces, and beverages. The wood of this species is incredibly hard and durable. It's so dense it actually sinks in water (most woods float). Ancient Greek craftspeople utilized it almost exclusively for their spears, javelins, and bows. 'Redstone' is a very productive red-fruited cultivar with olive-shaped fruits (some are yellow, some are pear-shaped). Our seed comes from Sheffield's Seed Company in Locke, NY. Growing Info, follow in order: Scarification: Soak in water, let stand in water for 24 hours. Stratification: warm stratify for 180 days, cold stratify for 90 days. Germination: sow seed 3/8" deep, tamp the soil, mulch the seed bed. Other: Sporadic germination will occur over a 2-3 year period.
