Plant Profile Common Names: Tree Moss, Climacium dendroides **Tree Moss is a terrestrial plant and it will not survive submerged in water.** If you want to bring an authentic, miniature old-growth forest to life inside your enclosure, Tree Moss is the star attraction you need. Unlike creeping ground-cover mosses that form flat blankets, Climacium dendroides grows on distinct upright "trunks" topped with dense, feathery foliage, making each stem look like a miniature palm or evergreen tree. This unique architectural growth adds instant verticality, realistic scale, and incredible depth to terrariums, vivariums, and paludarium land sections. Key Features & Benefits Features erect, woody-looking stems topped with a whorl of spreading green branches, naturally replicating the appearance of tiny forest trees. Instantly breaks up flat ground cover, providing dramatic focal points and micro-elevation shifts in terrarium foregrounds and midgrounds. Extremely resilient in terrestrial setups; once established in high humidity, it holds its shape and vibrant green color with minimal intervention. Care & Planting Instructions Position the moss clusters directly onto damp substrate, or wedge them securely into the crevices of elevated rocks and driftwood to prevent any root rot. Keep the environment consistently humid with regular misting, ensuring the moss stays moist but never sits in stagnant, swampy puddles. Provide moderate, indirect light; harsh, direct light will quickly scorch and dry out the delicate leaf rosettes. Keep the plant strictly above the water line in terrariums, vivariums, and paludariums, as submerging the foliage completely will drown it. Propagate your green umbrellas slowly over time by gently separating established clusters and pressing them into new, damp hardscape areas.
