They can control the immune response to both self and foreign antigens and they can help dampen down the immune response to keep it in check and stop the body from attacking its own tissues. They effectively police the immune system and stop it from attacking healthy cells. Ingredients in Metabolics TREG support: Cinnamon Ceylon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum) A commonly used natural spice and flavouring material used for centuries throughout the world. Cinnamon powder is known to support TREG’s through a process of upregulating and down-regulating specific cells involved in the immune response. Cinnamon Ceylon (also known as “true” cinnamon) has significant antioxidant activity as it contains large amounts of highly potent polyphenol antioxidants. Green Tea Extract (Camellia sinensis) Green tea extract contains EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), a strong anti-inflammatory substance known for its health benefits and supporting the immune system. Green tea originates from the plant Camellia sinensis. Unlike black tea leaves, which oxidase and wilt from the minute they are picked, green tea leaves do not oxidase and retain the original nutrients. The green tea extract we use is standardized to contain 45% of the compound EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate). Green tea contributes to the natural defences of the body. Olive Leaf Extract (Olea europaea ) Olive is one of the oldest known cultivated plant tree species, grown extensively in the Mediterranean province. Olive leaf extract comes from the leaves of the olive plant and contains phenolic compounds known to possess biological activities that are antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. One of these compounds is the antioxidant called Oleuropein, which supports the equilibrium between TREG cells and TH17 cells specific cells involved in the immune response. Olea europaea contributes to body defences against external agents. Polygonum cuspidatum (25% Resveratrol) Resveratrol is a naturally occurring polyphenolic stilbene (organic compound) that is produced by certain plants in response to various stress stimuli including microbe infection, ultraviolet radiation, and injury. They are antioxidants that protect your body from free radicals. Resveratrol has immunomodulatory effects through its actions on circulating immune cells. Turmeric (Curcuma longa) Turmeric contains the well-known Curcuminoid, Curcumin. It is a well-known spice from India commonly used in curries. Curcumin, a phytochemical obtained from the rhizome of the plant Curcuma longa, is thought to have a role in the regulation of TREGs. Curcumin helps to control inflammatory responses within the body. Curcuma longa helps maintain the efficiency of the immune system and helps to maintain resistance to allergies. It also has antioxidant properties. Ursolic acid (Rosmarinus officinalis) Rosmarinus officinalis L is a plant that belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is commonly known as rosemary. The extract obtained from this is Ursolic acid a pentacyclic triterpenoid, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties. It contributes to the natural defences of the body and supports the immune system. Piperine (Piper nigrum) Piperine is a major alkaloid in black and long pepper (Piper nigrum) that gives pepper its “hotness”. It has potent anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidant properties. It also helps to maintain the integrity of the body by its antimicrobial and anti-parasitic effects and support for the immune system. Piperine enhances the bioavailability of curcumin, where research has shown that administering Piperine with Curcumin produces a 2000% increase in bioavailability in Curcumin.
