Duplicated hand-drawn sketch map showing the craters around Givenchy, the scene of bitter fighting involving the 55th (West Lancaster) Division in April 1918. Additional informatio n is written on the map which was used by the 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Positions such as 'Orchard Keep' are clearly marked, this was where, on 9th April 1918, 2nd Lieutenant Joseph Henry Collin won a posthumous Victoria Cross when he attacked enemy positions with revolver, Mill's grenade and eventually by machine gun. Collin is buried in Vielle-Chapelle New Military Cemetery, France. Scale 1:5,000 - Dated 9th June 1918. Show more
