Tres Alegres Compadres Reposado 750ML is a 100% blue Weber agave tequila bottled at 38% ABV (76 proof) after two months of aging in American oak barrels. Produced by La Cofradia under NOM 1137, this reposado sits at the minimum end of the aging spectrum, resulting in an expression that foregrounds raw agave character over heavy oak influence. Quick Facts: ABV: 38% | Origin: Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico | Reposado — Aged 2 Months | Distillery: La Cofradia (NOM 1137) Production & Heritage La Cofradia is a Jalisco-based distillery with over 50 years of tequila-making experience, operating out of the town of Tequila in the heart of Mexico's designated tequila production zone. Tres Alegres Compadres Reposado is made from 100% blue Weber agave and rested for two months in American oak barrels — just enough contact to soften the spirit and introduce light wood tones without masking the underlying agave. The short maturation period places this expression closer to a blanco in flavor intensity while gaining the golden hue and subtle vanilla nuances that define entry-level reposados. Tasting Notes Aroma: Fresh, slightly herbaceous agave leads the nose, followed by a light mineral quality and faint citrus. A gentle hint of orange peel and a whisper of vanilla from the oak emerge as the spirit opens up in the glass. Taste: The entry is clean and mineral-driven, with raw agave at the center of the palate. Mid-palate, soft vanilla and light wood tones weave through without dominating. The agave retains its natural sweetness and green, peppery edge throughout. Finish: Medium to medium-long, with lingering raw agave and a subtle orange note. A slight mineral and faintly metallic quality persists as the finish fades. How to Drink Tres Alegres Reposado The restrained oak influence makes this reposado versatile — it drinks cleanly at room temperature and benefits from a single ice cube to open up the citrus and vanilla notes. Its agave-forward profile also makes it a reliable mixing tequila. Paloma: The herbaceous agave and citrus undertones integrate naturally with grapefruit soda and a squeeze of lime. Tequila Old Fashioned: The light vanilla and wood tones from the two-month rest provide just enough barrel complexity to anchor the cocktail's sweetness. Ranch Water: At 38% ABV, it keeps the drink sessionable while delivering enough agave punch to stand up to sparkling mineral water and lime. Best For Everyday cocktail mixing where 100% agave quality matters Introducing someone to reposado tequila without heavy oak influence Hosting a casual tasting flight comparing blanco, reposado, and añejo styles Warm-weather sipping over ice with a citrus garnish Frequently Asked Questions What does Tres Alegres Reposado taste like? It is an agave-forward reposado with a clean mineral backbone, light vanilla from American oak, and hints of citrus and orange peel. The two-month aging keeps barrel influence subtle, letting the raw agave character dominate. How does Tres Alegres Reposado compare to Espolòn Reposado? Espolòn Reposado is bottled at a higher 40% ABV and typically rests longer in barrel, yielding a richer caramel and spice profile. Tres Alegres Reposado leans more toward raw agave and mineral notes due to its shorter two-month maturation and lower proof. Is Tres Alegres Reposado good for cocktails? Yes — its clean agave profile and moderate 38% ABV make it well-suited for Palomas, Ranch Water, and other tequila-based mixed drinks where agave freshness is more important than deep oak complexity. Where is Tres Alegres Reposado made? It is produced by La Cofradia (NOM 1137) in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico — the designated heartland of Mexican tequila production. What foods pair well with Tres Alegres Reposado? Grilled shrimp tacos complement the citrus and mineral notes. Ceviche mirrors its fresh, bright agave quality. Chicken mole brings out the subtle vanilla undertones. Queso fresco and roasted peppers balance the herbaceous character. Churros with dulce de leche echo the light sweetness from the oak. What sizes does Tres Alegres Reposado come in? The standard and most widely available size is the 750ml bottle. Is Tres Alegres Reposado worth the price? Tres Alegres Reposado positions as a value-tier 100% blue agave reposado, which is notable since many tequilas at this price point are mixto rather than pure agave. It delivers honest agave flavor without the markup of premium aged expressions. Why Tres Alegres Reposado? The defining characteristic of this reposado is its minimal two-month barrel rest — just enough time in American oak to earn the reposado designation while preserving the raw, herbaceous agave flavors that many longer-aged expressions sacrifice. Produced by La Cofradia, a distillery with over five decades of experience in the heart of Tequila, Jalisco, it carries the credibility of NOM 1137 on the label. For drinkers who find heavily oaked reposados too far removed from agave's natural profile, Tres Alegres Compadres fills that gap at a price point that makes it a practical daily-use bottle. It is a straightforward, honest expression of lightly rested 100% blue Weber agave.
