About the Tri-Color Swordtail Tri-Color swordtails are a type of livebearer fish known for their vibrant, calico-like color patterns, often resembling Japanese Koi fish. They typically display a combination of black, red, and white or orange markings. These active fish are popular in freshwater aquariums due to their unique coloration and peaceful temperament. Because this species can get quite large in size (up to 4-5 inches in most captive specimens), it will need greater tank volumes compared to other livebearers. However, like most livebearers, Swordtails are fond of harder water parameters. Compatible with: This species can coexist with Bristlenose Plecos, Catfish (Corydoradinae), Mollies, and other non-aggressive, fin nipping fish.
