The origins of our favourite tropical tipple date back to the 17th century. British sailors stationed in the Caribbean were given daily rations of rum. To make it more palatable (a nd to ward off scurvy), they mixed it with citrus juices, sugar, and a splash of spice. Over time, the recipe evolved, incorporating local spirits and flavours - giving rise to countless variations, including Rum Punch. The name? It is believed to have originated from the name of the large wooden cask called a “puncheon” which was used to transport the drink. Show more
