A substantial late Victorian steamer trunk in exceptional original condition. The domed lid and body are covered in embossed paper with a tortoiseshell pattern, reinforced with oak slat banding and ornate pressed metal hardware throughout — clasp plates, corner brackets, and lid stays all intact. Unfortunately the lock is not functional. The interior is the real surprise: original paper lining with a bold chromolithographic border in red, blue, and gold, and a small Belle Époque chromolithograph of a seated woman pasted to the back panel — exactly as its owner left it. These trunks crossed oceans. This one came from a family estate. dimensions: 32"W x 18"D x 21.5"H Note: this item is local pick up preferred from our Pickering location only.
