This pancake-stack keyring is made by Tsukasa Sample (つかさサンプル), a family-run food-replica workshop in Kawasaki, Japan, recognised as Kawasaki Meister — the city's highest honour for master craftspeople — across two generations since 1973. Each piece is sculpted from vinyl resin and hand-painted: the golden-brown gradient on each pancake, the soft pat of butter at the top, and the glistening drizzle of syrup. Because every keyring is built by hand, no two are the same — small differences in browning, butter placement and syrup flow are part of the craft.
