Tungsten Mop Fly Mop fly is one of our favorite flies. It is known to be one of the most productive trout patterns. The creator of this fly is Jim Estes. The mop pattern is an excellent imitation of grub-like creatures, like insect larvae. Great for any type of water. This succulent-looking pattern is simply irresistible to the fish. It is also an excellent attractor fly and an effective searching pattern for trout and steelhead. Made out of the microfiber material from a dust mop. It wiggles in the water making it simply irresistible to fish. The fish will literally fight over it. A little story about how brilliant this fly pattern is. It is so effective that our son would just use this pattern when fishing. His excuse is: "why would I change it when it works so well". Sometimes he would follow my advice and would try something different. When that different pattern wouldn't produce any fish, he would switch back to a mop fly and immediately start catching fish. He would then say to me: “You just keep fishing your pattern, dad”.
