In captivity, provide secure rockwork—these active foragers will displace loose stones while searching for food—along with ample crevices for shelter and grazing space. Optimal conditions include a pH of 8.1–8.3, temperature between 72–78°F, and salinity of 1.023–1.025 (specific gravity). Success depends on stable water parameters, substantial grazing territory, and well-anchored aquascaping to support their natural browsing behavior.
