Turf Blend consists of approximately 60% compost (Soil Amender) screened through a 3/8” screen and approximately 40% washed river sand. Compost portion produced at temperatures exceeding 55 C to kill weeds and weed seeds. Turf Blend provides a stable base for new sod or seed installations and can also be used for topdressing of existing lawns and turf surfaces. Turf Blend is a ready-to-use amended soil. New Lawns: Spread a 3” to 6” layer of Turf Blend evenly over existing soil. Rake to achieve proper grade. Apply a phosphorus-rich fertilizer (e.g. 10-30-10) and rake into the Turf Blend. Irrigate. Apply seed or install sod. Irrigate thoroughly to establish roots.
