Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser who had a traumatic experience with a devastating tornado during her college years and now safely in New York analyzes storm patterns on screens. She is lured back to the open plains by her boyfriend Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system.
