Type 2 tethered chargers (right) have a cable permanently wired to them, with a type 2 connector on the end. If additional length is required, whilst a type 2 to type 2 cable would physically fit, due to a safety mechanism within the international standard covering type 2 leads, the wiring configuration prevents the charge from commencing. The only solution is to replace the lead wired into the charger with a new tethered cable. If your charger is untethered (left) and has a type 2 socket built into the unit, you can simply use a longer type 2 to type 2 cable. This cable is only compatible with EVs with the most common type 2 connector (right). Type 2 connectors have 7 pins and were adopted as the EU standard for EVs in 2014. Conscious of the number of cheap non-compliant cables on the market, we introduced these cables, which are assembled in the UK from high quality components. Unlike cheaper cables which often only enable a 16A (3.7kW) charge rate, these support a full 32A (7.4kW). The unique cable provides more robust communication cores for reliable operation, whilst providing the smallest diameter and lightest cable available. Available in a range of lengths from 5m to 30m (contact us for longer lengths) with a choice of yellow, black or blue cable. May be used in conjunction with our type 2 connector wall mount. Specification: Type 2 replacement charging cable with 6mmsq conductors, for tethered chargers, supporting a full single phase 32A/7.4kW charging rate. Please contact us for three phase 22kW cables. Weatherproof IP54 rated when connected. Connector is fitted with rubber protective cap for when not in use. High quality cable, assembled in the UK. Cable diameter 12mm.
