U-Bolts may be used to secure the Straight Vertical Fence Extensions and Curved Houdini-Proof Fence Extensions to round or square metal fence posts, which are most commonly found on chain link fencing (round) and wrought iron or aluminum fencing (square). The U-Bolts come in pairs of two with four washers and nuts. When using U-bolts with our fence extension systems, you will need (2) U-bolts per extension. The extensions can accommodate U-bolts for round posts between 1-5/8“ and 2-1/2“ in diameter. The size(s) of the U-bolts you require is determined by the size(s) of your round posts. Most chain link fences have posts of multiple sizes. We offer U-bolts for the four most common residential chain link post sizes; 1-3/8" typically used for chain link gates, 1-5/8" typically used for in-line posts, 2" typically used for corner, gate, and end posts but also used as in-line posts for some fences, and 2-1/2" used for corner, gate and end posts. For posts that are 1-3/8" in diameter, we recommend using the 1-5/8" U-bolts. We also offer square U-bolts for wrought iron or aluminum fences with square posts. The most common square post size for this type of fencing is 2”. The easiest way to determine the diameter of round chain link posts is to use a cloth tape measure (like used in sewing) and wrap it around the post.
