Acanthastrea rotundoflora, commonly sold as Acan rotundoflora, is a colorful LPS coral known for its rounded fleshy polyps, bold texture, and striking color combinations that may include green, orange, red, purple, or contrasting rim coloration. This coral brings excellent visual impact to the reef aquarium, especially when placed where its inflated tissue and patterned growth can be appreciated. Its compact growth form makes it a great choice for LPS gardens, frag racks, and mixed reef displays where bright color and unique polyp structure are desired. Care Guide: Acanthastrea rotundoflora is generally a moderate-care LPS coral that does best in low to moderate lighting and low to moderate, indirect water flow. Avoid placing it under overly intense light at first, as its fleshy tissue can become irritated; gradual acclimation is best. Keep it away from aggressive neighboring corals, as Acan corals can extend feeding tentacles and may sting nearby specimens. Stable reef parameters, good alkalinity and calcium levels, and occasional target feeding of small meaty foods can help encourage fuller tissue expansion, growth, and long-term color.
