Product Description In order to create a new sustainable value, Mr. Suginaka repaired the chips using Kintsugi, a unique Japanese ware repair method. In this piece, he aimed to create a kintsugi that harmonized with the patterns of the original vessel. In the commonly known Kintsugi technique, only gold lines are drawn, but blue urushi (Japanese lacquer) is added to the inside and outside to match the design of the original vessel. The delicate patterns of flowers and plants are difficult to achieve even with kintsugi, and the blue urushi was specially created by him. It makes the piece a unique gem. The original vessel is Kyo ware, a representative art from Kyoto. Also known as Kiyomizu ware, it is one of Japan's most representative wares. The designs on the vessels are called Choju-giga (often rendered in English as Scrolls of Frolicking Animals), and are national treasure paintings that are considered to be the oldest manga in Japan, which was drawn 800 years ago. It is a caricature of human society, and animals with mysterious powers frolicking with each other has been a symbol of good omen since ancient times. This piece is made by an artisan who paints each pattern one by one with a brush.Since a number of artisans are involved in the process of completing the work, no two patterns are alike. This makes the piece a valuable work of art. However, chips and cracks occurred in the final stage of the original ware production, and it had no choice but to throw it away as it was. We created this work with the hope that those who pick it up will be filled with humor and have a good time. You can feel the beauty of imperfection from the Kintsugi. How about a fun tea time while watching the singing and dancing rabbits and frogs in the Kintsugi? All materials we use are natural and do not have any risks of toxicity. The piece comes with a Paulownia box, including care advises and a certificate of origin and quality.
