In this b lanket pattern, a horse gallops through a Lakota village of traditional tepees at sunrise, while a geometric Morning Sun greets the dawn over each dwelling. The Lakota word for horse is Sunka Wakan or "Holy Dog," a symbol that stands for strength and unity. This wool blanket was designed by Native American artist by Chelysa Owens-Cyr, and is crafted from start to finish at Pendleton Woolen Mills', Oregon, mill, for quality you can count on. Created exclusively for the American Indian College Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps fund scholarships for Native American students and tribal colleges. Artist-Chelysa Owens-Cyr (Fort Peck Assiniboine and Dakota Sioux/Pasqua First Nations Cree) is an artist from Montana's Fort Peck Indian Reservation. As a College Fund scholar, she studies Business Administration at Fort Peck Community College.
