Think hallways, lobbies, reception areas, and common spaces—anywhere people naturally gather and can access the unit quickly in an emergency. How high should an AED be mounted? To follow accessibility guidelines, mount the AED so the highest reachable part is no more than 48 inches off the ground. This helps ensure it's accessible to everyone, including individuals using wheelchairs. What are the ADA mounting recommendations? The Americans with Disabilities Act advises placing AEDs 3 to 5 feet off the floor in well-lit, unobstructed spots. This setup makes it easier for anyone to locate and use the device quickly when it’s needed most.
