Upgrade your torch kit with the Uniweld Type17-3 Brazing Tip, a versatile multi-gas nozzle engineered for the heavy-duty demands of the HVACR contractor. This precision-machined tip is built to deliver a stable, concentrated flame for brazing copper tubing up to 1-1/2 inches and welding steel up to 3/16 inches. Designed with a copper elbow and brass mixer, this dual O-ring seal tip requires only hand-tightening to ensure a leak-proof connection, making it ideal for quick swaps in the field. Whether you are performing compressor changeouts or installing large-diameter suction lines, this tip provides the heat performance required for deep penetration and clean joints. The Type17-3 is universally compatible with Uniweld 71, WH550, and TurboTorch oxy-acetylene torch handles, offering seamless integration with your existing rig. While optimized for acetylene, its multi-flame capability supports propane, MAPP (MAP-Pro), and natural gas fuels, ensuring high thermal output across various fuel types without sacrificing flame control. Key Benefits Broad Compatibility: Fits Uniweld 71, WH550, WH250, and TurboTorch handles, as well as Victor J-series (J28, J27, J100C) handles. Multi-Fuel Versatility: Fully operational with acetylene (6 PSIG / 18 SCFH), propane, MAPP/propylene, and natural gas (requires one size larger for alternate fuels). Enhanced Sealing: Features a dual O-ring design that eliminates the need for a wrench, protecting the handle threads and ensuring a gas-tight seal every time. High Thermal Capacity: Engineered for brazing 1-1/2" copper and welding 3/16" steel, providing the consistent heat needed for commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. Common Questions Can I use this tip with both Acetylene and Propane? Yes, the Type17-3 is a multi-gas tip. When switching from acetylene to propane or natural gas, keep in mind you may need to adjust your pressures—typically 4:1 Oxygen-to-Fuel ratio for propane—to maintain the proper neutral flame. Do I need a wrench to install this on my Uniweld handle? No. The brass nut and dual O-ring system are specifically designed for hand-tightening. Using a wrench can over-compress the O-rings and lead to premature wear. Will this tip fit my Victor J-series torch? Yes, the Type 17 series threads are compatible with the Victor J-Series (Small) torch handles, making it a reliable replacement or upgrade for your current set.
