Unsorted Pinot Noir is a dry, medium-bodied California Pinot Noir bottled at 13.5% ABV in a standard 750ml format. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, this wine has earned an 88-point rating on CellarTracker and draws praise for its restrained elegance — a California red that avoids the fruit-bomb stereotype. Quick Facts: ABV: 13.5% | Origin: California, United States | Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir | Style: Medium-Bodied, Dry Production & Heritage Unsorted sources its Pinot Noir from California vineyards, producing a wine that sits squarely in the moderate-alcohol range typical of the state's cooler-climate plantings. At 13.5% ABV, it lands slightly above what you might expect from Oregon's Willamette Valley (often 12–13%) but well below the riper, higher-octane California reds that can push past 14.5%. The result is a Pinot Noir that balances fruit ripeness with structural restraint — medium-bodied and dry, without excessive extraction or oak influence dominating the varietal character. Tasting Notes Aroma: The nose opens with an intriguing layer of mint and early-picked raspberry, bright and slightly tart rather than jammy. A spicy hint of coriander lingers underneath, adding herbal complexity that sets it apart from more fruit-forward California bottlings. Taste: On entry, the palate delivers clean red berry fruit — raspberry and red currant — with moderate acidity providing lift. Mid-palate, the wine builds with gentle spice and a subtle earthiness that keeps the fruit honest. The dry finish and medium body make it feel more European in structure than many California peers. Finish: The finish is moderate in length with soft, fine-grained tannins and a lingering thread of cool mint and dried herbs. It closes clean and refreshing, inviting another sip rather than demanding contemplation. How to Drink Unsorted Pinot Noir Serve at a slightly cool cellar temperature, around 55–60°F, to let the aromatic detail shine without the alcohol pushing forward. A few minutes in the glass after pouring helps open the spice and mint notes further. This wine works well in a Classic Burgundy cocktail (Pinot Noir, crème de cassis, and a lemon twist) because its acidity holds up against the sweetness. It also makes a refined base for a red wine spritzer on warm evenings, where its lighter body stays refreshing. For a Kalimotxo variation, the clean fruit and moderate tannins blend smoothly with cola without becoming cloying. With an 88-point CellarTracker score backing up that impression, Unsorted Pinot Noir earns its place as a reliable, food-versatile bottle that rewards drinkers who want varietal character over sheer fruit intensity.
