Green grey sandstone interlayers permeated between queenston shale is what make up the paint structure for this painting. The pigment is sourced along the Credit River then ground and incorporated with linseed oil to create the palette. When the paint is semi dry graphite lining is meticulously drawn into the paint surface to create its form. Inspired by the Dansaekhwa painters of the early 70's, emphasis is directed at process over outcome, the meditative aspect of creation and the harmony between artist and materials. Show more
