Antique bellows air supply / signal horn manufactured Siebe Gormna & Co Ltd. These were manufactured at the Neptune Works in Chessington, Surrey (UK) and brought over to Australia for industrial mining, maritime, or early fire brigade use, they are considered rare, highly collectible crossover items. Original safety plaque and manufacturers label on top. The apparatus was designed to supply fresh air through a hose to a firefighter or mine-rescue worker wearing a Siebe Gorman smoke helmet. The operator would work the bellows with the foot pedal. The lifeline also served as a signalling system — the plate specifies different numbers of pulls for more air, slack, or rescue. Features.
