This piece is about the neighbour’s bougainvillea. Growing up, it was the brightest plant on the street. Loud pink, impossible to miss, spilling over fences and taking up space. As a kid, I couldn’t understand why something that pretty had the word “bogan” in its name. It didn’t fit. Bougainvillea was everywhere in Far North NSW. Along driveways, wrapped around old fences, pushing through beach towns and backyards with the same energy as the landscape around it. It didn’t try to be neat or polite. It just grew. That’s what this painting holds. Dense colour, layered marks, and forms that press up against each other. It’s not delicate or controlled. It’s familiar, sun-hardened, and unapologetic. This work is about place. About the details you grow up seeing every day that quietly shape your sense of what feels like home. Each original artwork is one-of-a-kind and created in my Melbourne studio. The piece will be carefully packaged in a custom double-walled box to ensure safe delivery. Shipping is included within Australia. Please reach out if you’d like international shipping or framing.
